“WEEN FOR HAITI: AN EMERGENCY AID EVENT”

TO SUPPORT THE VICTIMS OF THE DEVASTATING EARTHQUAKE

NEW YORK, NY – January 18, 2010 – The Women In Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN) presents WEEN for Haiti: An Emergency Aid Event taking place on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 5-11 p.m. at Katra Lounge (217 Bowery Street) in New York City.  All proceeds will go directly to Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti foundation & Doctors without Borders, the recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize in 1999.

“It is in times like these that our humanitarian strength is tested.  This catastrophe is a wake up call and it is our responsibility to tap into our resources to support our sisters and brothers in Haiti.  In the spirit of our mission, WEEN members will join forces to help restore the lives of all affected by this unfortunate disaster,” declared Valeisha Butterfield, Co-founder and Chair of WEEN, “this is one of many steps we are taking to do our part.”

We then realized that donating 100% of the profits from our “Sake Pase – Haiti flag” iCase, part of our Wave Your Flag Collection, was the perfect way for www.icaseplace.com to contribute. We see it as a great way to donate to YELE and receive a unique phone accessory that demonstrates ones support of the ongoing relief efforts. We CAN all help, we MUST help.”  Representatives will be on site to display how you can use your iphone case as a means of support.

The distinguished laides of Episilon Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma said, “Our thoughts, prayers and humanitarian deed to assist in a catastrophic time are extended to the people in Haiti. The Epsilon Tau Chapter is a proud supporter of WEEN for Haiti and we pray the efforts of this initiative are able to bring relief to several struggling families.”
