First off… I completely understand that the tragedy in Haiti is completely affecting the lives of the world. This is what makes this so incredibly ironic. How is it that here in the United States of America, the Supreme Court can rule to remove limits on corporate campaign contributions regardless of what country they are in and there is NO MAJOR PRESS ABOUT IT??? Just because a company does business here in the USA does not mean that they should have a say in who or how we the USA runs OR has running it’s government. I don’t see the Chinese letting us have a say in who or how they run their government. Unless there’s yet another thing that we’re blind to!

Now I’m not one for politics and I’m the first to tell ya that. However, in this instance, I had to at least inform you if you didn’t already know. I heard nothing about it. Read nothing about it. If it were not for a call from a concerned friend, I probably still would not know as this completely slipped under the media radar obviously.

The ruling represented a sharp doctrinal shift, and it will have major political and practical consequences. Specialists in campaign finance law said they expected the decision to reshape the way elections were conducted. Though the decision does not directly address them, its logic also applies to the labor unions that are often at political odds with big business.
